Privacy Policy

Zoom Void is a free browser game operated by the Zoom Void team. This page explains what the game stores on your device and what it sends to our server. We have tried to keep both the game and this page short and honest.
Stored on your device
The game uses your browser's local storage to remember your settings and progress. This data stays on your device, is never sent to us automatically, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
- The display name you enter
- Your best score overall and your best score today
- Your control scheme and sound preference, and whether you've turned down the suggestion to install the game
- A local list of your own recent runs, used when the online leaderboard is unavailable
- That you've seen the cookie notice, so it isn't shown again
The site itself sets a single cookie, and only when you view it in a language other than your browser's — by choosing one yourself, or by following a link to a translated page. It remembers that language so the site opens in it next time, and holds nothing but the language code.
Sent to our server
Nothing is sent while you play. When a run ends and a score is submitted to the leaderboard, we receive the display name you chose, the score, and statistics about the run — how long it lasted, how many objects you swallowed, and how large you became. These statistics exist to detect impossible scores, not to profile you.
We do not store your IP address. Our server derives a one-way salted hash from it, which we use only to rate-limit submissions and investigate abuse. The original address cannot be recovered from the hash.
We do not ask for or store an email address, and the game has no user accounts. A display name is whatever you type; please do not use your full name or any other personal detail, as submitted names appear publicly on the leaderboard.
Advertising
Zoom Void is monetised through Adsterra. Adsterra is an independent controller of the data it collects for this: it and its advertising partners may read and write cookies or similar device identifiers to serve, measure, and — depending on your own device and browser settings — personalise ads. We never send Adsterra your display name, your score, or anything else from the game; the only thing it sees is that your browser opened an ad placement.
Ads on Zoom Void appear in a few places:
- Occasionally, moving between the site's own pages or asking to REVIVE after a run ends shows a full-screen ad on the page itself, until you close it.
- On a computer, a small floating widget Adsterra may add to the page (a “social bar”).
- On a computer, banner ads embedded directly on some pages.
Nothing plays before a run or between runs. REVIVE is always optional to ask for — nothing requires you to use it, and declining costs you nothing beyond the run already being over.
The first time you visit, a notice at the bottom of the screen tells you about these cookies. Ads load on every visit; you can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser's settings.
For what Adsterra itself does with the data it collects, see its own privacy policy at adsterra.com.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It records aggregate traffic only: it sets no cookies, builds no profile, and does not follow you to other sites. Our hosting provider may also keep standard server logs for security and reliability.
Children
Zoom Void is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has submitted a display name that identifies them, contact us and we will remove it.
Retention
Leaderboard entries are kept so the all-time board remains meaningful. Rate-limiting hashes are short-lived. Local storage on your device persists until you clear it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to its processing. Because we store so little, the practical case is usually removing a leaderboard entry. Email legal@zoomvoid.com with enough detail to identify the entry and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page.
